The short version
We collect as little as we can. If you sign up for emails, we keep your email address (and any missionary addresses you add) so we can send them. We don’t sell or share anyone’s information, show ads, or use tracking or analytics tools. You can stop emails or ask us to delete everything at any time.
What we collect, and why
Email signup
- Your email address and whether you chose the daily comic or the weekly P-day digest, so we can send it.
- Missionary email addresses you choose to add, with the month they’re coming home and a note that you added them. We use these only to send the same comic emails to your missionary, and to stop before their missionary address is closed.
- Whether each email was delivered, and whether anyone unsubscribed, so we stop sending when we should.
Likes
When you tap the heart on a comic, your browser remembers it. To keep each device to one like per comic, we also store a scrambled code made from your internet address and browser type. It can’t be turned back into your address and isn’t linked to your email.
Keeping bots out
The signup form uses Cloudflare Turnstile to check that you’re a person, and we briefly keep a scrambled code of your internet address to limit repeated sign-ups. Those codes are deleted within a day.
Running the website
Like any website, our hosting provider handles standard technical information (such as your internet address and browser type) to deliver pages and protect the site from attacks.
Who helps us
We use a few services to run the site. They handle information only to provide their service to us:
- Kit sends the newsletters and keeps the subscriber list.
- Resend sends a few one-off emails, like your “Manage my missionaries” link and a note when your missionary is almost home.
- Cloudflare hosts the website, stores the missionary list and like counts, and runs the bot check.
Missionaries
Only a parent or family member who has confirmed their own email can add a missionary, and only @missionary.org addresses. We stop sending to a missionary address after the coming-home month you give us, or after 24 months if you didn’t give one. Missionaries can also unsubscribe themselves from any email.
How long we keep it
- Subscribers: until you unsubscribe. Kit keeps a record that you unsubscribed so you aren’t emailed again.
- Missionary records: deleted from our list 6 months after we stop sending to them.
- Sign-ups that were never confirmed: deleted from our list after 30 days.
- Bot-check codes: deleted within a day.
Your choices
- Every email has an Unsubscribe link.
- Add, remove, or update missionaries any time on Manage my missionaries.
- To see what we have about you, or to have it deleted, emailcrew@missionarytreasures.com.
Who we are
Missionary Treasures is run by Mushwatersquash LLC. It’s an independent project and isn’t affiliated with The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints. The site is meant for adults: parents, families, and missionaries and returned missionaries, who are all adults.
